Best of Spring/Summer 2014 Trends revealed

Spring/Summer is always the right time to look for the trends, because you know most of the styles are going to be around for a few months. Also, after the dark theme of the fall and winter, the summers make way for fresh colours and designs. If you are looking for Spring/Summer 2014 trends, here’s a list of the top picks.

1. Go metallic: While this is not something you haven’t seen before, metallic looks work because the colours are not staples for the summers and spring. The best thing about the current looks is the choice of patterns, which is not restricted to one colour but moves ahead to many shades and even the rainbow hues. There are skirts, dresses and accessories to choose from.

2. Go mesh style: If you are someone who dares to bare, get a good camisole and top it with a transparent or mesh outfit. The more you explore in the designs, the better, but this is one of the best trendy designs for the upcoming season. Black and white are great choices for that more stylish look, but given the fact that pastels are hot options, you can try them as well.

3. Go pastel with the palette: Floral for spring and summer is something we are always used to, which is why the choice of pastel colour as the spring essential is a good welcome change. Seen at most of the designers, the colours are versatile, starting from the beautiful rose and lavender shades to more cool shades of yellow and blue. Pick the single colours or opt for patterns- the choices are varied as ever.

4. Go the crop style: The Crop Tops are one of the hottest properties for spring this year. Spotted in DKNY Spring 2014 Ready-to-Wear Collection among others, the looks are different and stylish by all means. Of course, you need to get in shape for trying the style, but this is totally worth the time you spend at the gym. The black and white combination was something that was seen in most fashion weeks, but if you love the pastel clothes online and on the runways- choose them too!

5. Go white: Just mentioned that black and white have been among the trending colours of the season, but the statement white blouses seemed to be a total hit. Lovely designs and simply cool enough for casual and formal look, this is one look that can be experimented with. While some designers seemed to love the look with embellishments, there were others who styled their models with shirts having necktie detailing. Choose what suits you because the occasion often determines what you wear.

How to Survive the Office Christmas Party

An office party can go one of two ways. It can either be a massive hit or, alternatively, completely cringeworthy, resulting in one of your co-workers (hopefully not you) collapsing in a drunken heap and having to deal with the consequences once they have recovered from their unnecessary hangover.

It depends on the environment in which you work in – if you’re all likeminded individuals, the Christmas party can be immensely successful and a perfect chance for you all to let your hair down and celebrate the festivities. There are several ways in which you can survive the party though, making sure that you can leave with your head held high, safe in the knowledge that you haven’t done anything to be ashamed of!

Dress up

Make a little effort, even if it is just a party where you work every day. Pick up a stylish party dress from George or accessorise an outfit to the max so that you stand out. People will see that you have made an effort and will respect you for that. After all, it’s Christmas – why shouldn’t you don your party dress to enjoy the festivities?

Control your drinks

Even if your Christmas party is at a venue with an open bar, don’t go overboard! Bad things can happen when you drink too much – don’t let it happen when your boss or MD is there! Stick to a couple of cocktails and leave it at that – or choose a virgin cocktail and people will think you’re knocking them back, when you’re not! Don’t pull a sickie

So many people will be tempted to call in sick if one too many drinks have been enjoyed but if you have attended a mid-week party, don’t make that call. Even if you have to drink copious amounts of coffee and take a couple of painkillers, make sure that you at least show up.

Go alone

While your invitation may mean that you could take along your other half or another guest, the great thing about office parties is that they give you a chance to mingle with your co-workers and enjoy their company away from the office desk. If you take along your spouse, you’ll be tempted to spend the evening with them, giving you less chance to really enjoy the opportunity.

Don’t talk about work

Talk to people about their hobbies, pastimes and what they’ve been getting up to. If you have a similar taste in films or music, strike a conversation about that so that people know there’s more to life than what goes on in the office. If you’re a parent, a conversation about children is easily done but make sure that the chat isn’t one-sided. Ask plenty of questions, be interested and get to know those co-workers that you don’t usually talk to. Make sure that you keep the balance between enjoying yourself and being sensible – after all, you have to work with these people! The last thing you want is to be the subject of those post-party whispers.

Hearts have always been used in jewellery, and Pandora uses them within plenty of different themes, including the Pavé and Murano as well. The pavés have their own heart shaped theme, one even being a Triple Heart design. In particular the heart shaped Red Pavé Heart Charm uses red cubic zirconia which sparkles against the sterling silver of the charm. Heart designs are very fashionable at the moment and the category to find them is Love, although they can be gifted for many other reasons. The pendants set off the colours in a similar way to the pavés but are smaller hearts and dangle; they can include black crystal and clear or red cubic zirconia.

Murano Beads

These are Italian circular glass beads that use colours in a similar way to the pavés; for the dainty or for the fierce statement. The charm is made from sterling silver and glass which means the light, reflects from the charm and therefore mixes with the other pieces on your bracelet. It is always suggested to go for colours with the Murano beads, and there are plenty to choose from, including this Autumn’s new Green Faceted Murano Charm which is perfect for this season. Once you have filled your bracelet with your chosen charms there maybe left over space that is not quite big enough to fill with another charm. This is the reason to use spacers. They are also useful if you have many dangles, to stop them clashing against each other.

Whether you decide to choose a few charms on your bracelet or completely fill it, there are plenty of genuine gemstones or colourful combinations to be made from the extensive catalogue.

#OOTD: Sunshine On My Window

Hello there! I am back with vengeance! After the short hiatus here on my blog, I am backkk. I am alive and kicking. You don’t know what I’ve been thru the couple of weeks ago. I was sick. Yes, even though I feel sick as always but this time it was serious. During the typhoon ‘Maring’, I was lying on my bed sleeping and wishing my fever was gone. Those were the toughest days. My stomach was aching. I felt light headed. Every time I ate, I vomit. I have no appetite to eat nor drink even water but I kept on trying and stuffing food on my mouth. Then, I had my period which makes everything worst. Okey, wait! Let’s rewind on 1st day I got sick. It was Friday morning, when I had a headache so I took advil. Then, during the afternoon, I was chilling. They only thing I want to do then was to go home. I am so thankful my beau offered me to pick me up near my office and he sent me home. The next day, I am so hot, literally. I got a high fever then, I felt all the symptoms that I said earlier. After 6 days of agony, I told my mom to have me check-up. The only thing that stopping us was the bad weather and of course! The freaking flood. I want to be confine at the hospital when I felt I can’t take it anymore. I kept on praying and praying until the next day. I was like much better than yesterday. My mom took me to the hospital. The doctor told me to have a urinalysis, blood extraction and dengue test. After 4 hours, I had the result and it’s all negative. Super weird. I know for a fact that I might have dengue because my gums were bleeding. It made me worried when I read it was one of the signs of dengue fever. However, I am thankful for having a good result. Thank you Lord for hearing my prayers. After a few days, I am soaring high again.

Sometimes, things happen for a reason. I think God made me sick to help me appreciate life even more. It is effective. He help me realize He is there to guide us and never forsaken us. Now, I value my life, health and everything that surrounds me more than ever.

Sunshine on my window... The storm is over. hihi But the truth is, it was the first song came up on my mind. hehe
