Last weekend, we have watched the movie Joker. I was hesitant at first but after watching the movie, I felt super content and glad I watched it.

This movie is more of the origin of the Joker. It is the making of the ultimate villain of batman. It started with this man named Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), who is a mentally-troubled comedian. He also had this condition that there are random times he suddenly and uncontrollably laugh without any reason. He struggles with his condition. People around him also made him felt a less of a person. He often gets abused and misunderstand with his illness.

Joaquin Phoenix is really a good method actor. He made me change my perspective towards Joker. The story was deep, dark and realistic. Unlike the recent movies about or with Joker, is unrealistic. But this movie opened my eyes on how the mentally-ill person mostly treated with abuse and misunderstanding by the people. Most of the time, they were bullied by the society. This movie should not be remake in the future, no one for my eyes can replace the amazing talent Joaquin Phoenix showed in this movie. I was an instant fan.

Joaquin Phoenix rouse up to the level of Heath Ledger but he exceeded it. I went home contented. Why? Because no questions were raised after the movie, because all the questions were answered immediately in the movie. Even Bruce Wayne was connected in the movie. Maybe that will trigger his obsession to save Gotham City. Furthermore, Joker was a good man, but society and bad people fucked him up. He was treated unlikely and double standard happened. I felt his emotions and I agree with what he is fighting for. He started a movement. A movement that will change Gotham City.

BRAVOOOO! BRAVOOOO!!! This movie and Joaquin Phoenix deserves an Oscar!!!

It’s been a while since I love a chick flick. Petty love story was not my thing lately. They are too cheesy and when you get a little older just like me, some of my likes are changed. I found them a little disappointing because life has more emotions than kilig. Tita mode full on mode. Hahaha however, everything has an exception. This is one of it. I love this movie. 

Few weeks ago, we stumbled upon a movie called The Battleship Island. At first, we don’t have any idea of the storyline of the film. According to the reviews I have read, it was about the Koreans who suffered under forced labor of Japanese in the coal mines during World War II.

It sounds interesting so we tried to watch it

It was a story of survival. I can’t believe the treatment of the Japanese to Koreans during those days, they were really ruthless and out of control. Actually, it was based on true events. Living life during those times are really hard. We are lucky enough that war is not always an option in our generation.

The Verdict:

The story revolves with father and daughter duo, who were entertainers during the war. They were sent to the battleship island even they have a permission to be excluded because Korean/Japanese government requires them to work in the coal mines in Hashima Island in Japan. Lee Kang-ok (Hwang Jung-min) is a very caring father. He loves her daughter so much. He keeps on protecting her even though he is willing to let her daughter be adopted by the high ranking soldier. Choi Chil-sung (So Ji-sub) is really handsome street fighter. Hahaha He has a good heart but a little hot-headed person. I was surprise that Song Jooing-ki was also in the movie as Park Moo-young, he was a member of the Korean independence movement, and added to that he was a special person who will help them to escape the island.

Anyways, I enjoyed the storyline. No situation will be questioned because everything was plotted in a very intelligent way. Pak na pak ang ganap at ang aksyon hahaha (I like the action scenes.) Action, drama and comedy even suspense, the movie has it. I won’t regret watching it. To think that it really happened in real life. I felt devastated for those people who died to save themselves and died to save their love ones. Today, the battleship island is now a UNESCO World Heritage in Nagasaki, Southern Japan.

I was intrigued to watched Seven Sundays so I invited my mom, my sister and my hubby. It was a story about a family, whose father was diagnosed with lung cancer. They decided to spend the remaining seven Sundays together with their father. They promise to dedicate every Sundays with their family. 

After 76 years, Wonder Woman is now in theaters near you. They gave chance to a woman to be the heroine and the star of the movie. Yay for feminism! Thank you DC comics for creating a character that can uplift woman's stand in our society. She can be a model to every woman out there, who can save and change lives of our world we live in. Let's be a Wonder Woman in our own ways!

After 10 years in the making, ‘Saving Sally’ hits the theater last Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2016. It was something different from Filipino Films. The story started when Sally (Rhian Ramos) and Marty (Enzo Marcos) met at the school and became best of friends. Sally is an inventor, who helped Marty to avenge the Bully. They became inseparable after the incident. Marty is secret inlove with Sally. He drew her and paste in on his wall but he covers it when Sally is around. The story revolves on how Marty is so ‘Torpe’. Hahaha The problem starts when Sally met another guy and her adopted parents were so strict. Imagine the love of Marty for Sally is unconditional. He can sacrifice his feelings just for Sally’s happiness. 

The Verdict: 

Saving Sally was one of the movies I am looking forward to watch. I first read it on Saab Magalona’s blog (Yes! I am an avid fan of her. *fan girling*) I love supporting Filipino movies. This is one unique idea from a brilliant mind. As you all know, this kind of movies especially the animated ones, those are rare in our country. The soundtracks are so superb. The animations and artistic background is so witty if you read and observed every detail. If you love art, this is a moving art as I may say. Moreover, Rhian Ramos is a good actor. She brings emotion to the movie. Unfortunately, I think Enzo Marcos lacks some feelings towards Sally. He sounds neutral most of the time. I prefer they used Tagalog as the language of the movie. I think it would be wittier if they used our language. The storyline was ordinary. The usual love story, it is predictable. However, the effort they gave to this movie was excellent. Kudos to everyone part of the movie. 

 I will rate this movie with 

★★★☆☆
